This summer, I interned at the Ohio 4-H Center under the supervision of Dr. Paul Kuber and Dr. Lucinda Miller. Our hard work this summer paid off when we executed the youth events at the Ohio State Fair. Ialong with Krysti Dubler, conducted the Poultry Judging Contest, Livestock Judging Contest, nine Skillathons and several Award Ceremonies. We spent the summer modifying these events from years past, contacting facilitators to help run them and meeting with superintendents for guidance.

It was enjoyable to work with those in extension as well as networking and creating friendships. I’m also fortunate that my internship is continuing into the school year where we will develop reports from the 2013 State Fair.

I loved this internship and would highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in Agricultural Communication or Animal Sciences. This was a great experience and was filled with real life situations that I wouldn’t have gained in a classroom setting.
